Here’s an interesting story that I found recently.

I recently wrote a beginners guide to social news websites and this article follows up on that by offering a list of the social news websites you can use to get information and web traffic.

Most PR firms do publicity, not PR.

Publicity is the act of getting ink. Publicity is getting unpaid media to pay attention, write you up, point to you, run a picture, make a commotion. Sometimes publicity is helpful, and good publicity is always good for your ego.

United States: Job Losses mount, but media sector hardly worst off

Tuesday, March 17, 2009, 6:43 AM

According to Reuters, layoffs in the United States media are heavy, but don’t come close to the carnage in some other sectors. In the first two months of this year, 7,453 jobs were lost at media companies. Even combining that figure with the 2,183 jobs that were cut from entertainment/leisure, a sector that includes cinemas. But in the worst-hit industry is retail where some 72,727 jobs have been lost so far in January and February.
The data is based on announced job cuts a report released by consultants Challenger, Gray & Christmas which says that In all of 2008, the media sector suffered 28,083 layoffs.
